The Cirque Glacier was a glacier located on the ice-covered planet Hoth. It was located north of the Clabburn Range of mountains and south of the North Ridge and Lanteel Glacier. The Hanging Valley sat to the west of the Cirque Glacier and the Nev Ice Flow lay to the east.
In 3 ABY, the Imperial Viper probe droid XJ9-CS14 passed along the southern edge of the glacier while searching for the secret headquarters of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, diverting south briefly due to a large meteorite crater. As it reached the western end of the glacier toward the boarder into the Hanging Valley, the droid detected the energy signature of Echo Base for the first time, and started moving south toward the Clabburn Range where the base was built.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Cirque Glacier was first mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, in a section written by James Luceno and illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen. The location originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2004 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, which was also written by Luceno, with illustrations by Chasemore and Jenssen.
