Being extremely valuable, it was sought after by many. The Empire transported lots of coaxium under high security measurements, because they wanted to controle as many resourses as possible. It was used by Han Solo to bribe his way out of the Control Zone on Corellia; it was also sought after by a plethora of criminal syndicates, such as the Crimson Dawn.
