- "The key to colonization is self-sufficiency."
- ―Qui-Gon Jinn
A colonist was an individual who migrated to a world and exercised power over a part of it as part of a group in an attempt to foster long-term settlement and development for themselves. Colonists had various motivations: some sought better life opportunities, while others set up colonies to hide from religious or political persecution, such as by the Galactic Empire, or criminal organizations.[2]
