"Stay sharp. There's two more comin' in. They're gonna try to cut us off."
―Han Solo, upon detecting the Conquest and another Star Destroyer[src]

The ISD Conquest was an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer that saw service during the Galactic Civil War, being one of two Star Destroyers that chased the Millennium Falcon, piloted by Han Solo, after its escape from Mos Eisley on Tatooine. The Conquest then served in Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader's personal fleet, Death Squadron, when the unit was stationed in the Juris sector shortly prior to the Battle of Hoth. The Conquest was accompanied by the ISDs Avenger, Devastator, Stalker, Tyrant, and the flagship Executor.

Description[]

As an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer, the Conquest was 1,600 meters long.[3] It was additionally equipped with two ISD-72x shield generator domes on the command tower, a tractor beam targeting array between them, a solar ionization reactor, three Destroyer-I ion engines, and four secondary Gemon-4 ion engines.[4] Like other Imperial I-class ships such as the Devastator[6] and the Harbinger,[7] the Conquest was also eventually upgraded and replaced its tractor beam targeting array with a communications array.[4]

History[]

The Avenger, Conquest, Devastator, Stalker, and the Tyrant in the Juris sector.

The Conquest served in the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.[1] Shortly after the Battle of Scarif[8] and during a secret mission to Tatooine by Rebel Alliance agents that were pursued by Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader and his flagship Devastator, the Conquest and two other Imperial Star Destroyers were stationed near Tatooine. When the agents, carrying the Death Star plans, escaped Tatooine's port city Mos Eisley aboard the Millennium Falcon that was piloted by Han Solo, one Star Destroyer pursued the Falcon as it left Tatooine's orbit. The Conquest and the second Star Destroyer closed in from Tatooine in an attempt to cut off the Falcon and attacked the light freighter, although the Falcon was able to escape all three Star Destroyers and go into hyperspace.[1]

Three years later,[9] Project Swarm was initiated by the Imperial Death Squadron to locate the Alliance main base. When a probe droid discovered the base on the ice planet Hoth, Death Squadron was located in the near Qeimet in the Juris sector. The Conquest had been upgraded and was part of the squadron, alongside the Star Destroyers Avenger, Devastator, Stalker, and Tyrant, which were all led by Darth Vader and Admiral Kendal Ozzel from their flagship, the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor.[5] The squadron was then deployed to the Hoth system, with the Avenger,[2] Devastator,[5] Stalker, Tyrant,[5] and the Star Destroyer Ultimatum[10] participating in the Battle of Hoth and its direct aftermath, which included the squadron chasing the Millennium Falcon through the Hoth asteroid belt. The pursuit resulted in the Ultimatum's destruction, and the Falcon successfully escaping to the nearby world of Bespin.[2]

Furthermore, Build the Millennium Falcon.png Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 20 (Starship Fact File: Imperial I-class Star Destroyer) establishes that the shield domes on Imperial I ships are the ISD-72x shield generator domes. Additionally, Droids in Distress identified the Tractor beam targeting array the Conquest was seen to have in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. This was replaced by the communications array as seen in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back on the Conquest, so the Conquest must have been upgraded. Both arrays were between the domes on the command tower.
