- "You weren't even tempted?"
"Of course I was tempted. I thought if at least ten more things I could do with another term while I was reading the proposal. But that's not how our legacies work. Not here. We serve and we allow others to serve." - ―Sabé and Padmé Amidala, after having refused to amend Naboo's constitution.
The planet Naboo had a constitution. The constitution limited the monarch of the planet to two terms in office, although it was almost amended[2] in 28 BBY[3] to allow for Queen Padmé Amidala to continue to serve for more terms after the Invasion of Naboo[2] but she refused to do so, though she admitted to her handmaiden, Sabé that she was tempted to.[1]
In 22 BBY,[4] Amidala discussed the matter with Jedi Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, saying that she was relived when her two terms were up.[5]
