Copper was a metal,[3] with the chemical symbol Cu,[4] that had a reddish-brown tint comparable to the hair color of Mon Mothma.[1] It had a smell[5] and a taste resembling those of human blood.[6] The presence of copper in compounds like grains of sand gave them a blue coloration.
Copper could be used in lightsaber construction.[7] In 14 BBY,[8] the fugitive Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis acquired enough of it to fashion a lightsaber hilt.[7]
During the Galactic Civil War, copper was used as a component in certain starship fuels.[2] Other uses of copper included droid plating.[3]
