The Core Founders were a group of twenty-two worlds,[1] all located in the Core Worlds region, which founded the Galactic Republic[2] around 25,000 BBY.[3] Founder worlds included Alderaan,[1] Chandrila,[4] Corellia, Coruscant, and Duro.[5] The Avenue of the Core Founders in front of the Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant, the Republic's capital, was named after the group and lined with statues representing the worlds.[6] The Unity Arc built for the Valo Republic Fair[1] held around 231 BBY[7] was composed of twenty-two floating spheres representing the Core Founders.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Core Founders were first canonically mentioned, albeit indirectly, in the 2016 edition of the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations,[2] which was published on September 27 of that year.[8] They were first canonically identified in the reference book Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo[6] and published on October 25, 2016.[9] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Core Founders were first mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, written by Kristin Lund.[10]
