- "Birth records indicate that Han's paternal ancestry goes back to Berethron e Solo, who introduced democracy in the Corellian empire."
- ―C-3PO
The Corellian empire was a political regime that existed during the Old Republic era and governed the planet Corellia for most of its history. It encompassed in reality different government systems over time that evolved from a galaxy-spanning empire to a hereditary monarchy, and later to a constitutional monarchy.[1] The Corellian empire was ruled by a King from the House of Solo.[3] However, the implication of the Corellian monarchs in affairs of the state has varied wildly throughout history.[4] The last ruler, King Berethron e Solo, initiated democratic reforms in the empire's political system[5] and eventually dissolved the monarchy in 312 BBY.[2] Berethron e Solo instituted a republic that unfortunately evolved into a corporatocracy under the Diktats.[1] Centuries after the reign of Berethron e Solo, Korol Solo of the House of Solo claimed to be the heir to the Corellian throne.[6] A few generation later, Han Solo was also considered as a descendant of Berethron e Solo.[3]
