The Corporate Sector Authority, also known simply as CSA or CorpSec, was the government that controlled the Corporate Sector, an independent sector located in the the galaxy’s Outer Rim.
History
Prior to the Imperial Era, the Corporate Sector was made up of a series of loosely-aligned autonomous star systems, independent from the Galactic Republic, which were home to numerous corporations as well as tax evaders, arms merchants, and pirates. By 18 BBY, these star systems were considered to be slowly coalescing into a unified entity, which was one of the main reasons the Galactic Empire decided to send a message to the systems defying it by occupying the Salient system on the edge of the sector.[3] Despite this, these systems eventually coalesced to create the Corporate Sector Authority.[1]
Thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the Resistance leader General Leia Organa received intelligence that the CSA was giving monetary support to the First Order who was channeling large sums of money to New Republic Senator Erudo Ro-Kiintor's accounts through shells and third-party corporations via the CSA. Ro-Kiintor had indirectly supported the First Order by delaying or derailing motions in the Galactic Senate calling for sanctions against the Order and increasing support for the Republic Navy. Using this information, Organa sent the pilot Poe Dameron on a mission to steal Ro-Kiintor's starship Hevurion Grace.[1]
Organization
The Corporate Sector Authority Security Police served as the main law enforcement agency in the Corporate Sector, it was made up of at least three branches, the Ground Forces, Locational Enforcement, and Situational Enforcement. The Picket Fleet served as the naval force of the Corporate Sector Authority. Viceprex was a position within the CSA.[2]
Foreign policy
The CSA found itself involved in galactic affairs during the height of the tensions between the First Order and the New Republic, where shells and third-party corporations on behalf of the Order sent large sums of money via the Corporate Sector Authority into a Republic senator's personal accounts.[1]
