The Cortez banking clan was an organization which,[1] by 3643 BBY,[2] was pushing for controversial new regulations that would render loan schemes in the criminal underworld obsolete. Consequently, several crime syndicates were looking for neutral representatives to protect their interests.[1]
Around that year,[2] an individual associated with one of the two opposing governments in the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire sent a companion of theirs to represent the syndicates. Using the syndicates' viscous reputations, their companion convinced the Cortez banking clan to abandon their regulation plans.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Cortez banking clan was mentioned in BioWare's 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic in the Crew Skill Mission "Trust Issues," though the information regarding the mission's outcome was later removed from the game.[1]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Per the reasoning here, Act I of Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place around 3643 BBY. Since players of The Old Republic can assign their companions on the mission "Trust Issues" independently of the main class storyline at any point during the game, the mission must take place at some point around 3643 BBY.
