"They build their cities in caverns near water and are unused to bright sunlight."
―An artist's journal entry on the Crocin[3]

Croce was a terrestrial celestial body[3] located in the regions known as the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice.[2] It was situated in grid square S-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Croce was relatively cool and had both water and nearby caverns on its surface.[3]

Croce was the homeworld of the Crocin, a species of sentient reptilians[3] who spoke the Croci language.[4] The Crocin lived in cities built in Croce's caverns and were not used to bright sunlight. The Crocin[3] spacer[5] Karjj hailed from Croce, a fact that was noted in the posting of a bounty issued for[6] him[5] by the time of the First Order occupation of the planet Batuu[6] in 34 ABY.[7]

At one point, Croce was also mentioned in an entry of an artist's journal dedicated to the Crocin. The journal was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive[3] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[8]

Behind the scenes[]

Croce was introduced in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Alien Archive by Natalie Clubb and Katrina Pallant.[3]

  7. The Star Wars Book dates the Battle of Batuu, which is depicted in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge via the attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, to 34 years after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 34 ABY per Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. Therefore the events of Galaxy's Edge in general, which includes the events of Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters, must also take place that year.
  8. Star Wars: Alien Archive, which is presented as a restored in-universe journal, mentions Poe Dameron's mutiny against Amilyn Holdo, which is depicted in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. The Star Wars Book places the events of The Last Jedi in the same year as the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY, meaning the document must have been published at some point no earlier than that year.
