The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, also known more simply as a DL-44 blaster pistol, was a type of heavy blaster pistol produced by BlasTech Industries.[1]
Description[]
The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol was used during the years of the Galactic Republic and the Age of the Empire. It was considered one of the most powerful blaster pistols in the galaxy, delivering massive damage at close range; however, it overheated quickly.[17] The DL-44's capacitor can charge a double-power laser-bolt without overheating. It's firepower is powerful for a pistol, without compromising accuracy, making it ideal for use by military forces, as well as bounty hunters and smugglers.[18] The DL-44 was easily modifiable[19] which allowed Solo to make a number of modifications on his own, including, at one point, removing the blaster's motion-sensitive barrel scope.[2] This pistol can also be reconfigure into a blaster rifle by including an extended barrel with the existing flash-suppressor, dissembled the existing D3x macroscope, and an attachable stock. This version was used by Tobias Beckett in the trenches of Mimban before he deconstructed his DL-44 and gave it to Han Solo, who used it for the rest of his life.[3]
History[]
During the Clone Wars, the mercenary droid AD-W4 used one while fighting Jedi Master Mace Windu on Hissrich. The Twi'lek Freedom Fighter Cham Syndulla wielded one such pistol as well.[8] During the Imperial Era, the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka used this model.[11] Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger owned a DL-44 during the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin.[7] Luke Skywalker also owned a DL-44 during his early days with the Rebel Alliance.[20] Rebel pilots Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles both carried this blaster pistol.[21] When Ben Solo joined the Knights of Ren, he was given a new uniform with a holster holding a blaster that looked exactly like his father's and uncle's.[14] During the Cold War, Venisa Doza carried a DL-44 in a holster in her hip.[15] Kazuda Xiono used a DL-44 on multiple occasions, one was given to him by Poe Dameron when they explored Station Theta Black,[22] and when they explored Sector Epsilon 51-3 where Xiono used it to take out a Spider probe droid.[23] Synara San toss Xiono a DL-44 that belonged to the Warbird gang.[24]
