"Mon Calamari Royal Guard?"
"I'm sorry?"
"The way you're sitting. It's either that or the Dac ballet, and you don't look like a ballet dancer."
―Tempest Runner Lourna Dee and Starlight Beacon security chief Ghal Tarpfen[src]

The Dac ballet was a ballet company that shared its name with Dac,[1] the aquatic homeworld of two sentient species: the Quarren and Mon Calamari.[2] Around 231 BBY,[3] Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee was captured by Republic forces and imprisoned on the Starlight Beacon space station. There, she was interrogated by the station's Head of Security, the Mon Calamari Ghal Tarpfen. By observing Tarpfen's posture, Dee identified her as having once been part of either the Mon Calamari Royal Guard or the Dac ballet, and expressed doubt that Tarpfen danced ballet.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Dac ballet was mentioned in the 2021 audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner, written by Cavan Scott.[1]

  3. The Star Wars Book dates the launch of the Starlight Beacon to 232 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 232 BBY in the dating system used by Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. The High Republic: Tempest Runner takes place several months after the events of The High Republic: The Rising Storm, which is itself set almost a year after The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which depicts the launch. Thus, the events of Tempest Runner must occur around 231 BBY.
