- "Jaro Tapal. A traitor like you. And to think one day our children will ask what is this thing? This relic of a corrupt institution destroyed by its own arrogance."
"Arrogance is a trap a lot of us fall into, Senator."
"I'm sure the Emperor won't mind if I deliver you to him in pieces!" - ―Daho Sejan and Cal Kestis
Daho Sejan was a male Pau'an senator who represented his homeworld of Utapau in the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.
Biography[]
Background[]
- "Do you think I wanted Utapau to join the Empire? The compromises I made created a future for my people."
- ―Daho Sejan
Serving as the representative of Utapau in the Imperial Senate, Senator Daho Sejan claimed to have had no fondness for the Galactic Empire's occupation of his homeworld. Believing, however, that the New Order could not be toppled, he instead sought to gain the Emperor's approval, ensuring his own well-being at the cost of being disgraced in the eyes of his own people.[1]
At some point, Sejan wrote to a compatriot and likened the Senate to a rigged casino. He stated that as Palpatine always won the political games, and that it seemed pointless to play unless you could also secure your own prizes at the same time.[3] By 9 BBY, Senator Sejan had come to own a Ramsidian yacht designed by Sienar Fleet Systems.[1]
Hunting Cal Kestis[]
Senator Sejan attempted to buy the captive Jedi Knight Cal Kestis from a group of Coruscant Security Force officers in order to curry favor directly with Emperor Palpatine, and avoid dealing with Darth Vader and the Inquisitorius. On his orders, Level 2046 was closed and a curfew initiated with any citizens who did not comply being detained and incarcerated.[1]
After Kestis was delivered to him, Sejan told Kestis he was aware that the failed coup on Norsid was his doing. Sejan inspected Kestis' lightsaber and declared that future generations will look upon the weapon as a thing of myth. He ordered Kestis to provide details of the whereabouts of other rogue Jedi, but unbeknownst to him, the whole affair was a ploy by Kestis and his allies to gain access to Sejan's yacht and the military secrets stored aboard it.[1]
Death[]
- "What took you so long?! While you've been chasing shadows, I have been --"
"You have been caught harboring a traitor." - ―Daho Sejan and the Ninth Sister
After dispatching Sejan's escort of stormtroopers and patrol trooper, Kestis's crew sabotaged the yacht and boarded it. Kestis used a mind trick on Sejan to get him to access the terminal. The senator attempted to cut a "deal" with the Jedi, claiming that the latter's group had no chance against the Empire, but his daunting warnings fell on deaf ears. However, when the group tried to escape with the Pau'an representative as their captive, they were ambushed by Imperial forces. Just as he was about to complain on the lack of punctuality, the senator was stabbed in the chest by the Inquisitor Ninth Sister for assumed betrayal.[1]
Legacy[]
In 35 ABY, Sejan was mentioned in The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, a history book written by Beaumont Kin. Using information garnered from Imperial Archives, Section: Senator Daho Sejan, File: ZE14 - seized records, Kin noted Sejan's ambivalence towards Emperor Palpatine, and that Sejan had been executed for what he called an "unspecified form of treason".[3]
Personality and traits[]
Like most Pau'ans, Daho Sejan had grey wrinkled skin, red eye sockets, pointed teeth, and long clawed fingers. Though professing concern for his people and maintaining he had not wanted Utapau to join the Empire, the Pau'an was truly concerned for his own well-being. Believing there was no chance of standing against the burgeoning Imperial forces, the senator instead sought to increase his standing with the Emperor. Sejan's false sense of security due to his choice of allegiance, however, made him blind to the intolerance of treachery typical of his Imperial peers, such as the Inquisitorius operative Ninth Sister.[1]
He was also known to torture his captives aboard his yacht, with a dedicated section of the vessel containing tools used specifically for extracting information with violence.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Senator Daho Sejan was first revealed in the first trailer for the 2023 video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which released on May 27, 2022.[4] The official appearance of Daho Sejan was on April 28, 2023 upon the game's release. He was portrayed by TJ Ramini.[1]
