The Dancing Goddess was an idol of the Godoan people[1] and was said to give great fortune to its owner.[4] At one point, Barpotomous Drebble acquired it. However, it was stolen from him[1] and wound up in the collection of Dryden Vos, the public face of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn.[2] The idol was smashed to bits during a confrontation between Vos, Qi'ra and Han Solo,[5] but was later repaired.[6] A similar artifact was in the possession of Darth Vader, who kept it in his castle on Mustafar.[7] Around 34 ABY, the Dancing Goddess was kept by the Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar in his shop in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Dancing Goddess, albeit unidentified, first appeared in the theatrical film Solo: A Star Wars Story,[5] which was released on May 25, 2018.[8] The artifact was identified in the tie-in visual dictionary Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo[2] and released on the same day as the film.[9] According to Hidalgo, the Dancing Goddess was added to the background of the film after he was asked for a shortlist of potential trophies by the filmmakers.[10]

Pablo Hidalgo (@infinata.bsky.social) on Bluesky (July 13, 2024): "This issue also features the debut of the Dancing Goddess, a precious jade statue that I was able to get into the background of Solo: A Star Wars Story in Dryden Vos' yacht (the filmmakers asked me for a shortlist of potential trophies, and the Dancing Goddess made the cut)."
