Darth Aruk was a Dark Lord of the Sith and member of the reconstituted Sith Empire's Dark Council during the Cold War with the Galactic Republic. As a member of the Dark Council, Aruk was in charge of the Sphere of Sith Philosophy, and as such was responsible for upholding the Sith Code and spreading anti-Jedi teachings throughout the Empire. The Sith Lord also attempted to weed out Revanite cultists who diluted the Sith with heresy concerning Darth Revan's balanced approach to the Force.[1]

By 3630 BBY,[2] Aruk, or whoever succeeded Aruk on the Dark Council, was believed to be dead, as Darth Vowrawn was thought to be the only remaining member of the Dark Council alive aside from Empress Darth Acina, who reorganized the Dark Council into five seats and folded the Sphere of Sith Philosophy into the Sphere of Sith Doctrine.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Darth Aruk was first mentioned in the Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, a reference guide for the BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic published by Dorling Kindersley[1] on October 15, 2012.[4] Aruk is the only member of the Council mentioned in the Encyclopedia that does not appear in Star Wars: The Old Republic aside from Darth Rictus,[1] who made his debut a month after the Encyclopedia was published in the companion novel The Old Republic: Annihilation,[5] written by Drew Karpyshyn and released on November 13, 2012.[6]
