"I have studied at the foot of the Dark Lord himself!"
―Darth Bandon, to Revan[src]

Darth Bandon was a Human male who was a former Jedi who left the Order and eventually became the Sith apprentice of Darth Malak during the Jedi Civil War. He was one of the Sith Empire's most dangerous hunters, yet he was no match for his master's former master.

Biography

In the Jedi Order

DarthBandon3

Darth Bandon, Sith apprentice.

Bandon was once a student of the Jedi, though he never fully accepted the teaching of the Jedi Code. He found strength in the powerful emotions of anger, hatred, and rage. His quest for power soon set him apart from his fellow students[1]. When the Sith Order began to rise again under the rule of Darths Revan and Malak, he rejected his old Master, then fled to the Sith Academy on Korriban.[2]

In the Sith Order

As a student of the new Sith Order, Bandon completely embraced the dark side with every fiber of his being and this, coupled with his strength in the Force and his utter ruthlessness in his quest for power, set him apart from his fellow students. These traits soon brought him to the attention of Darth Malak.[2]

After believing that he had killed Revan, Malak took Bandon as his apprentice, imparting much of his Sith knowledge to him. Malak was not disappointed with his choice, for many Jedi soon found themselves on the wrong ends of Bandon's double-bladed lightsaber. It was not long before rumors began to spread that Bandon would challenge Malak for the right to rule, as was the manner of the Sith.[2]

Tarisian dogfight

Lord Bandon prepares to face Trask Ulgo.

When Malak learned of the Jedi Bastila Shan's whereabouts, Bandon had led the boarding party that stormed her ship, the Endar Spire, above Taris, and had a clear shot to kill the mind-wiped Revan on the doomed ship. However, before Bandon could do so, Trask Ulgo made a desperate and futile charge, giving Revan time to flee to safety. In the end, Trask died at the hands of the Sith Lord. Soon, Bandon and any of his surviving Sith troopers abandoned the Endar Spire, just in time after the Sith interceptors destroyed the ship.[3][4]

The search for Bastila

"My apprentice, Darth Bandon, shall take care of our young Jedi friend. [...] Find Bastila and bring her to me, alive if possible."
"As you command, Master.
"
―Darths Malak and Bandon[src]

Following the failure and resultant death of bounty hunter Calo Nord, Malak ordered Bandon to hunt down and possibly capture or kill Bastila and destroy the redeemed Revan. Bandon set off to find Revan. Accompanied by two of his strongest Dark Jedi, his arrogant presumption was that they would be no match for him.[3]

"Your words mean nothing to me... unless you wish to beg for life. No? Then, I shall try to make this both quick and painful!"
―Bandon's final words[src]

Unsurprisingly, Revan recognized Bandon during their later confrontation and told him he would pay for killing Trask. It is not known on which world Bandon finally confronted Malak's former master, but the battle fought between him and Revan was fierce. Bandon, despite all his skill, was struck down by a far more powerful Revan along with his companions.[3]

With Bandon dead, Lord Malak decided to make Bastila his next apprentice, an event which led to his downfall at the hands of Revan.[3]

Personality and traits

Bandon was known for his ruthless, sadistic and psychopathic behavior. It was not uncommon for him to take the lives of several people and damage equipment either as an act of self entertainment or to enforce his position for a perceived transgression as minor as walking in his way or trying to talk to him.[3][2]

Bandon also wore a custom set of light fiber armor, fitted to his robes [5]. He was capable of using Force lightning, Death Field, Force Push and had a unique red double-bladed lightsaber.[3]

Behind the scenes

Like the battle against Calo Nord, the planet on which Revan battles Bandon is determined by the order in which the Star Maps are obtained. Bandon appears on the planet where the third Star Map of the journey is to be found.[3]

BandonConcept

Concept art of Darth Bandon, which became an armored Dark Jedi.

Darth Bandon's name likely came from the word abandon, since he left the Jedi Order.

If you have already found three Star Maps (counting the one on Dantooine), and for any reason return to the site of one of the previous ones, Darth Bandon will confront you.[3]

Bandon is normally accompanied by two hooded Dark Jedi on Tatooine or Manaan. However, if you encounter him on Kashyyyk, he is accompanied by two Dark Jedi that resemble the Sith Governor inside the Tarisian Sith Base. On Korriban, he is accompanied by two students from the Sith Academy.[3]

In the Xbox version of the game, Bandon's double-bladed lightsaber appears to have some unusual properties that set it apart from other lightsabers. When certain crystals are added to Bandon's blade, their effects will be different to those on standard lightsabers. This special lightsaber can only be picked up when Bandon is defeated on Manaan.[3]

If the fourth Star Map location is set on Manaan, Bandon would tell Revan that he knew about the search for the Map. He told Revan that he followed the same route Revan and Malak did underwater and it led him right to the Hrakert Station.[3]
