Darth Charnus was a male Human Sith Lord in the resurgent Sith Empire and the right hand of Darth Decimus, the Dark Council member overseeing the Sphere of Military Strategy.

Biography[]

"My master has spent many years learning of the Revanites. Together, we have exposed many."
―Emic Sandor, Charnus' apprentice, describes his master to Imperial heroes[2]

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire in 3643 BBY,[4] Darth Charnus and his apprentice, Emic Sandor, sought the destruction of the Order of Revan.[2]

At the start of the Galactic War, Charnus joined the Battle of Corellia to aid in the crushing of the Corellian resistance. The Sith utilised a personal dreadnought that was combined of the Centurion-class battlecruiser Tears of Taris; which was present at the bombardment of Taris and so named for it, before finding its way into the Sith Empire and served it for the next 300 years; and parts from the Harrower line of ships.

Personality and traits[]

"My Master prefers to remain in the shadows, but do not doubt his power—nor his ability to reward success."
―Emic Sandor, Charnus' apprentice, describes his master to Imperial heroes[2]

Charnus exhibited a cordial and refined manner. He lacked cunning but compensated for it with cruelty. His viciousness was remarkable, even among the Sith, particularly when interrogating helpless prisoners. [5]

Powers and abilities[]

Charnus had a talent for extracting information and he was often assigned to investigate secret organizations and societies within the Sith seeking the Empire's downfall. His methods were effective and his successes at rooting out and executing traitors were largely responsible for his senior position among the Sith. Numerous innocent individuals suffered at his hands but he always managed to keep collateral damage from his investigations to acceptable levels.[5]

Equipment[]

Darth Charnus possessed a Sith amulet[6] and a lightsaber.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

"I "obtained" this Sith amulet from Charnus. Give it to Sandor. He'll believe you stole it from his master while among the Revanites. They will turn against each other."
―Revanite leader Tari Darkspanner tries to convince Imperial heroes to frame Darth Charnus as a Revanite[6]

Darth Charnus appeared in the 2011 BioWare-LucasArts video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. He was first mentioned in the Imperial mission "Initiation", part of the Dromund Kaas planetary story arc.[2] He later appeared and figured prominently in the beginning part of the Imperial planetary story arc for Corellia.[3]

At the conclusion of the Dromund Kaas planetary story arc, player characters have the dark side option of revealing Tari Darkspanner as the leader of the Order of Revan to Sandor or the light side option of presenting Darth Charnus' stolen amulet to Sandor to falsely implicate him as a Revanite.[6]
