- "A data rod? Great, that will have the information I need."
- ―Kazuda Xiono, to MB-13A
Data rods,[2] also known as datarods,[3] datastick[4], or memory rods,[1] were devices designed for scanning and storing vast quantities of data. They were handheld, cylinder-shaped, and had red and gold accents.[5] Although some were small datachips.[2]
Clone Force 99 utilized one to activate the head of a tactical droid. While Tech hack the droid to activate the battle droids, he also downloaded a copy of the information, which Hunter gave the data rod to the Martez sisters Trace and Rafa.[5]
Prior to the Cold War, Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono stole a datarod from MB-13A. Looking at the data rod, they saw a star map of the galaxy. Jarek Yeager speculated that the red dots on the map are First Order fleets.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The canon version of a data rod is similar to the real world USB stick.
