"Death Star Rising" was a song by the pro-Imperial minga musical group The Emperor's New Clothes. In a display of bad taste, the song was released within days after the Empire's destruction of the planet Alderaan[2] by the Death Star superweapon.[3] It was featured on the album Artistic Integrity, which was the band's latest release[1] at some point in time between 0 ABY and 4 ABY.[4]

Like all of The Emperor's New Clothes' music, "Death Star Rising" was approved by the Imperial Board of Culture.[1] The content and nature of the song led some observers to believe a closer relationship between The Emperor's New Clothes and the Galactic Empire.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

"Death Star Rising" was one of the songs by The Emperor's New Clothes that were listed in the Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim was written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann.[1]
