Death trooper encryption was a language used by the Galactic Empire's elite death troopers.[2] The troopers spoke the language using voice-scramblers built into their helmets and it allowed them to communicate without anyone (other than another death trooper) being able to decipher what they were saying, as well as increasing their intimidating image.[3] The squad of death troopers that accompanied Director Orson Krennic to recover the scientist Galen Erso on the planet Lah'mu used the encryption as they made their approach toward the Erso homestead.[1]
Behind the scenes
Death trooper encryption first appeared in the 2016 Anthology Series film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[1] It was first identified in the video "Every Language in Star Wars" which released in 2019 on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel.[2]
