The defense of the southern polar regions was tasked to Admiral Raddus by King Lee-Char during the Galactic Empire's invasion of the planet Mon Cala. The defense ended when the Empire began to bombard the region and Raddus gave orders to a commander to launch all cruisers so they could escape the blockade of the planet.
