Diatia Major was a star[3] located within the Core Worlds[1] and Southern Core's[2] star system of the same name.[1] Lying on the edge of the Deep Core region, the star was not orbited by any planets.[3]
However, Diatia Major was encircled by the Diatian Clockwork, a large, mysterious ring composed of a metallic alloy and etched with deep, regularly-spaced grooves. For millennia, the ring amazed visitors, and it was widely believed to be constructed by members of the sentient Celestial species,[3] who had disappeared from the galaxy by 30,000 BBY.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Diatia Major was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the sidebar that would have mentioned the star was cut before the book's release.[3]
The information regarding Diatia Major was later released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[3] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Diatia Major system in grid square L-12.[1]
