For other uses, see Din (disambiguation).

The Din supernova was the destruction of the star Din.[2] Located in the Zuma sector of the Outer Rim Territories,[3] the star exploded[2] around 5000 BBY.[1] The supernova vaporized any inner planets that could have orbited Din and boiled away the vast atmospheres of the star's three outer gas giants, leaving behind their exposed cores—one of which was a diamond the size of a terrestrial world that had been formed by the intense pressure in the planet's atmosphere.[2]

The supernova left behind the energetic Din Pulsar and the surrounding Din Nebula, which consisted of red gases. According to a theory of the Ayrou species of the Maya Kovel system, deadly radiation from the Din supernova eventually reached the Sanyassa system, where the world Sanyassa IV was home to the sentient Sanyassans. The event encoded itself in the DNA of the latter species, which was particularly susceptible to the ensuing genetic cataclysm. The Sanyassans subsequently recorded the supernova in their art and songs.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Din supernova was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was published in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[2] on February 22, 2002.[4]
