Domm Korgale was a male individual who served as an Imperial Vice Admiral under Grand Moff Lozen Tolruck at the time of the liberation of Kashyyyk. He served as commander of the Star Destroyer Dominion, until it was infiltrated by Han Solo and his team. After being captured by Solo, Korgale escaped his ship's bridge, and the New Republic didn't think he was useful enough to be pursued.

Biography[edit | edit source]

A male individual, Vice Admiral Domm Korgale served as the commander of the Imperial Star Destroyer Dominion[1] in 5 ABY.[2] His subordinate was Rear Admiral Urian Orlan. During the liberation of Kashyyyk, Korgale and Orlan complied with Grand Moff Lozen Tolruck's orders to orbitally bombard the planet after the Wookiees rose up in revolt against Imperial rule. Later, he commanded the Dominion when a rebel team led by Han Solo and Chewbacca boarded the ship in an attempt to knock out the Dominion and its sister ships Vitiator and Neutralizer.[1]

Despite Solo and his team unleashing a rampaging horde of webweaver spiders, Admiral Korgale and his stormtroopers managed to capture the rebel boarders. Korgale placed the rebel boarders in shackles and then confronted Solo personally. After identifying himself, he informed Solo that he was going to deliver him to the Empire's embrace so that he could buy a seat with the Imperial leadership. When Solo responded that he was a war criminal, Korgale threatened to execute his comrades.[1]

Korgale informed his comrades that he had asked for Imperial reinforcements and voice his hope that the Empire would respond. One of his comm officers then told him that a YT-1300 light freighter had jumped out of hyperspace. This ship turned out to be Solo's ship Millennium Falcon, which was being piloted by his wife Princess Leia Organa. Korgale ordered his Destroyer to launch a contingent of TIE fighters. When Leia ordered him to stand down in the name of the New Republic, Korgale laughed and dismissed the idea that her freighter could take on three Star Destroyers.[1]

Leia was accompanied by a dozen X-wing starfighters from Captain Wedge Antilles' Phantom Squadron and Admiral Ackbar's cruiser Home One. Believing that his foes were outnumbered, Korgale ordered the Imperial ships to mount a vigorous defense of Imperial territory G5-623. However, Chewbacca broke free of his captors and hurled a stormtrooper against the wall. Han and his comrades broke free and then took out Korgale's men. Chewbacca hit Korgale and knocked him to the ground. While Korgale fled the bridge, Han and his comrades hijacked the Dominion and used its turbolasers and laser cannons to destroy the Vitiator and to fire upon the Neutralizer. As a result, the Neutralizer surrendered to the New Republic and Imperial rule on Kashyyyk came to an end.[1]

Personality and traits[edit | edit source]

Domm Korgale was an Imperial Vice Admiral who regarded the New Republic as criminals. He hoped that capturing Han Solo would improve his standing in the Galactic Empire. Korgale underestimated the ingenuity of his New Republic opponents, and particularly Solo, who ultimately tilted the balance of the battle in the New Republic's favor by hijacking the Vice Admiral's personal Star Destroyer Dominion.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Domm Korgale first appeared in Chuck Wendig's 2016 novel Aftermath: Life Debt, the second installment in The Aftermath Trilogy.
