Donovia was a planet[4] located in the Donovia system, a part of the Hali sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Expansion Region.[1] It featured rugged terrain and rainy seasons.[3]
During the final decades of the Galactic Republic's existence,[3] the technicians known as rainmen, which included Human members,[4] extensively mined[3] many valuable materials on Donovia, in the process servicing signal towers there.[4] The rainmen wore distinctive rain hoods, which allowed them to effectively carry out[5] close work[4] in extremely wet conditions.[5] By 22 BBY,[6] several Donovian rainmen had traveled offworld.[7] Two years later, Donovia remained undecided on its affiliation to either of the opposing factions of the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[8]
Behind the scenes[]
Donovia was first mentioned in the 2002 reference book Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary by David West Reynolds.[9] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Donovia system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square O-9.[2]
