- "Just like that swarm of venom-mites on Draboon, remember?"
"How could I forget? I still have the scar."
"Begging your pardon, Duchess, I distinctly remember carrying you to safety."
"I meant the scar I got after you fell and dropped me." - ―Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satine Kryze
Draboon was a Mandalorian planet[2] located within the Mandalore sector, in the region of the galaxy known as the Outer Rim Territories. Situated within the eponymous Draboon system,[1] Draboon was a source of high-quality lapis.[2]
During his youth as a Padawan apprenticed to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his master were tasked with protecting the young New Mandalorian duchess, Satine Kryze. Though the two Jedi spent a year on Mandalore,[4] the Mandalorian people's cultural homeworld,[3] their mission eventually brought them to Draboon, where Kenobi was forced to defended Kryze against a swarm of venom-mites. The Jedi Padawan managed to successfully evade the mites, carrying the Duchess to safety, but Kryze was ultimately left with a scar after Kenobi accidentally fell and dropped her on the ground during the altercation.[4] As an adult, Duchess Kryze's private starship, the Coronet, was furnished with fine lapis from Draboon.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Draboon was first introduced to Star Wars canon in the thirteen episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, entitled "Voyage of Temptation," which aired February 5, 2010.[4] The Essential Atlas Online Companion detailed the planet's location in the galaxy,[1] and Draboon was later mentioned in the television series' reference book, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles.[2]
