- "Why would he think of you, Ochi…when the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon are doing all the work?"
- ―Ought-Six, to Ochi
The Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon, known more simply as the Droid Crush and also referred to as the Crush, were droid pirates associated with Bestoon and led by Captain Ought-Six and were known to be recruited by the Jedi hunter Ochi of Bestoon.
History[]
- "When I hired the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon. I expected results. You said the Droid Crush was different now. Let bygones be bygones, you said. The Droid Crush Pirates weren't like what they were in the old days. You were professional. Renowned, even. But it seems I made the same mistake as I did all those years ago."
- ―Ochi, to Ought-Six after the Nightside raid
The Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon, or simply the Droid Crush, were a crew of droid pirates. A number of B1-KX monster droids were among the ranks of the Crush.[5] At some point, Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra and the smuggler Just Lucky stole from the Droid Crush. Eventually, the pirates tracked the two down with the intention of killing them both for revenge, proving Lucky's point to Aphra that mistakes could catch up to a person. Their attempt to kill the two thieves failed.[6]
The Droid Crush Pirates were tasked by the Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon in hunting the Sith Lord Darth Vader on Mustafar, having been promised with the high-quality technology within Vader's armor. After retrieving his lightsaber, Vader destroyed Captain Ought-Six and the rest of the droids present.[1] The captain was later repaired and again attacked Vader with more droids in Zee-Nine City Seven with the help of IG-88. The droids fled after IG-88 was defeated by Vader and an aerial bombardment was fired by Bokku the Hutt's ship.[7] After Crimson Dawn's auction of Han Solo, Sly Moore commanded the Droid Crush to attack Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and repair Luke Skywalker's X-wing, allowing Skywalker to escape.[5] Repaired once more, Ought-Six gathered a grouping of droids who had also fallen to Vader in the past to form the droid uprising. However, Vader's spy ZED-6-7 tricked the droids into a battle that left all gathered destroyed, including the Crush Pirates. The Crush Pirates and every other uprising droid was then rebuilt[2] and reprogrammed to serve Vader, although Ought-Six retained the ability to be annoyed by his new duty to the Sith Lord.[8]
In 3 ABY,[9] while guarding their base in the Khepi Tomb, a humanoid member of the Rokana Raiders pirate group gossiped with a fellow raider that they heard that their leader, Stinger Tash, wanted to start trading with the Droid Crush. They admitted they didn't like the idea but that they were always outvoted.[10]
By 21 ABY,[11] the Droid Crush had grown in prestige and professionalism, according to Ought-Six. The Crush was hired by Ochi to participate in a raid on Nightside in the Therezar system. When the Crush failed and suffered heavy causalities, Ochi destroyed the captain and contacted his Sith Eternal benefactors, requesting that they assign him troopers to help in his hunt for Rey.[4]
