"Stop them! They've ruined our past—they can't destroy our future! Children, stop him!"
―Karina commands her "children" to stop Darth Vader from stealing her womb[src]

Droid workers were modified B1 battle droids created by the Geonosian queen Karina when she was sterilized by the Galactic Empire to continue the Geonosian species. She did not think of them as droids, but as her own children.[1] In the year 0 ABY,[3] the Sith Lord Darth Vader stole the droid factory Karina used as her womb, preventing her from creating more droid workers.[1]

"Interesting tweaks on the standard battle droid design, too. I suspect that she doesn't see these as droids.…"
Doctor Chelli Aphra[src]

Modified B1 battle droids,[1] battle droids designed to resemble their Geonosian creators,[4] droid workers[5] furthered this resemblance with their brown plating, red photoreceptors, and pair of functional wings on their backs. Featuring masculine programming, they spoke Geonosian hive-mind and carried E-5 blaster rifles.[1]

During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire sterilized the planet Geonosis, killing nearly all life on its surface.

Behind the scenesEdit

Droid workers first appeared in Darth Vader 4, a 2015 comic written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Salvador Larroca.[1] They were first identified in Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know, Updated and Expanded, a 2017 reference book written by Adam Bray, Kerrie Dougherty, Cole Horton, and Michael Kogge.[5]
