"And that is why we are having the fair. Yes, it will bring people to the frontier, and yes, it will bring investment: a showcase of everything the Outer Rim has to offer, but also a chance to build new bridges with our galactic neighbors. The Duinuogwuin. The Togrutas."
―Lina Soh[1]

The Duinuogwuin were a group who were galactic neighbors of the expanding Galactic Republic by the time of the High Republic Era. By hosting a Republic Fair on the Outer Rim planet Valo[1] in 231 BBY,[2] Chancellor Lina Soh hoped that the event's showcase of the Republic's offerings—along with her other Great Works, such as the Starlight Beacon space station—would allow for the government to build bridges with nearby groups such as the Duinuogwuin. After a Senate planning meeting for the fair, Soh expressed her opinion about the Duinuogwuin to her Vice Chancellor, Larep Reza.[1]

In the current Star Wars canon, the Duinuogwuin were mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Duinuogwuin were first indirectly mentioned in "Dread Discovery!," the third installment of the "The Keeper's World" serialized Star Wars comic story that was written by Roy Thomas and published in the third issue of the Pizzazz magazine in December 1977.[4]

They were first described as a sentient species known as the "Star Dragons" in the 1989 Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplement Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, written by Troy Denning.[5] The Duinogwuin first appeared in a flashback scene in the roleplaying adventure "The Most Dangerous Foe" by Angela Phillips, which was published in the eleventh issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal in November 1996.[6]
