Duraplast was a white metal used during production of protective equipment. It was much stronger than many other metals, and was thus widely used throughout the galaxy by Imperial and New Republic Navies. The main element used in synthesizing duraplast was carbon.
Duraplast was also used in armor, such as Katarn-class commando armor and variants of Mandalorian armor, and was capable of offering great external and internal protection up to medium grenades, Verpine shatter gun rounds, explosive slugs, stun rounds, and medium laser cannon rounds. Duraplast could also be reinforced to be extremely resistant to EMP and ion cannon warfare.
Duraplast may resist several lightsaber strikes if combined with cortosis, for instance.[1]
During the Cold War, Duraplast was used in Republic Trooper and Imperial Heavy Trooper Armor.[1]
Lerrimore Contracting Company's industrial glow rod was constructed of sturdy duraplast designed to protect the illumination device from falls and being banged.[2]
