- "Dybbuk."
"Excuse me?"
"It's a parasite used to subdue violent criminals." - ―A convict and Osha discuss the dybbuk
Dybbuk was a fleshy,[2] star-shaped yellow-green parasitic creature used by the Galactic Republic to subdue violent criminals in the High Republic Era.[1] Measuring 0.25 metres in width, the parasite would affect the user's mind by latching onto another organisms mouth and induce an altered state of consciousness[2] while making a squelching sound.[3]
In 132 BBY,[4] aboard the Republic prisoner transport Palwick heading to the[1] galactic capital[3] Coruscant, the parasite was used to subdue a human convict. During an escape attempt aboard the ship causing the ship to drop out of hyperspace near the snowy[1] planet[3] Carlac, meknek Osha Aniseya used her repair droid Pip to electrocute the parasite latched to the convict. The electric shock caused the dybbuk to release its grip on the convict, freeing[1] him and leaving the dybbuk chittering[3] while escaping the ship into space before the ship entered Carlac's atmosphere and crash-landed.[1]
