- "Blast 'em!"
- ―A B1 battle droid armed with an E-5
The E-5 blaster rifle, also known as Droid blaster,[14] was a bulky blaster rifle[15] manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop. It was reverse-engineered from a BlasTech design[1] of the E-series.[16] The E-5[5] visually resembled a blaster rifle[17] nicknamed "Beti" from the High Republic Era.[18] The E-5C heavy blaster rifle was identical to the default E-5 blaster rifle, save for an added wooden stock and modified barrel.[19]
History[]
The Clone Wars[]

The E-5 was the primary weapon of the B1-series battle droid.
The E-5 was created[16] and adapted from the BlasTech design to be used by B1-series battle droids.[1] Bounty hunter C-21 Highsinger wielded an E-5 while attacking fellow hunters Jango Fett and Aurra Sing.[20] It was also used by BX-series droid commandos. It was used throughout the Clone Wars, making it the most common weapon of the Separatists. The blaster generated excessive heat, which was caused by its rapid-fire mode, making it uncomfortable for organics to use but more than adequate for a battle droid.[1]
Several IG-86 sentinel droids during the Clone Wars wielded E-5 blasters.[21] A number of Nikto guards employed by the Hutt Clan wielded E-5 blasters. Many such guards were active in Gardulla the Hutt's Palace on the Hutt capital world of Nal Hutta, where they wielded their E-5s in defense of the palace and the Grand Hutt Council's operations.[6] In 19 BBY,[22] those Nikto guards used their E-5 in combat against the invading Shadow Collective once the rogue Sith Lord Maul threatened the lives of the council, only for their defense to fail. After taking Gardulla's Palace, the Shadow Collective attacked Jabba's Palace, where another such E-5 equipped Nikto and two E-5-equipped Quarren were present.[6] Following the Clone Wars, a police droid model[10] that resembled the BX-series commando droid[23] also used the E-5. These police droids wielded E-5s while patrolling a decommissioning facility in Coronet City on the world of Corellia. Additionally, many E-5s and their B1 owners were set to be melted down in the facility, although a number of the droids were reactivated during an infiltration. Many reactivated B1s again wielded E-5 blaster rifles, using them to fire upon the police droids.[10]
Imperial Era and beyond[]

NED-B wields a modified E-5 blaster rifle in the defense of Jabiim.
NED-B used a modified[24] E-5 against stormtroopers during the Imperial attack on Jabiim.[25] Maul made use of three reprogrammed RIC-1200 droids who each wielded an E-5 blaster rifle.[26]
Baze Malbus wielded a personally modified[27] E-5 blaster[28] identified as an E-5 carbine[27] during his opposition to the Galactic Empire's occupation of Jedha. He repeatedly needed to fix the blaster until it finally was too broken for further use, which his friend Chirrut Îmwe considered a shame. Malbus soon replaced the E-5 with a repeating cannon.[28]
The HK-87 assassin droids working under Morgan Elsbeth used these rifles. One was taken by Sabine Wren when these droids broke in to steal the star map.[29] During the Cold War, the Warbird gang continued to use these blaster rifles, although these were more rugged with a longer barrel.[30]
Behind the scenes[]
The E-5 blaster rifle first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace as the weapon that equipped the Trade Federation B1-series battle droids. Originally, as seen in animatics for Star War: Attack of the Clones, the B2-series super battle droids were to dual wield E-5 blaster rifles instead of having a built-in wrist blaster.[31]
Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide mistakenly refers to the E-5 as a blaster pistol.[24]
