E-5s sniper rifles were a model of sniper rifle and longblaster[2] used by sharpshooters of the Confederacy of Independent Systems[2] and the Galactic Empire.[1] They saw action under the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars[2] on the planet Felucia.[3] To target opponents attempting to take cover, a B1-series battle droid took up position and used the rifle from a distance.[4] A tubular device was used to connected the rifle's targeting scope to a battle droid's photoreceptors, which saw through red electrobinoculars.[5]
The rifle was also used by the Empire during the Galactic Civil War against the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The E-5s sniper rifle first appeared in the new Star Wars canon in the 2014 mobile video game Star Wars: Galactic Defense.[1] The rifle originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in "Chapter 3" of the Star Wars: Clone Wars television series,[6] which was released on November 11, 2003.[7] The rifle was first identified in Legends in the 2004 Star Wars: Battlefront strategy guide, Star Wars Battlefront: Prima Official Game Guide.[8]
