The EE-3 carbine rifle was a model of blaster carbine manufactured by BlasTech Industries. The most notorious user of the EE-3 was the bounty hunter Boba Fett during and after the Galactic Civil War, with the weapon being considered his signature weapon.
Description[]
Boba Fett, arguably the most famous individual to wield the EE-3.
Produced by BlasTech Industries and designed with law enforcement agencies and private security in mind, only for bounty hunters[2] and even the Galactic Empire's formal Imperial Military to make use of it,[4] the EE-3 was a short, lightweight blaster carbine based off an older full-sized BlasTech rifle. Rugged, reliable,[2] and notable for its size,[6] the EE-3 came equipped with a short and heavily shrouded barrel, pistol grip, a solid stock, and optical sight.[2] To make up for the smaller handle, the weapon relied on its wielder holding it with two hands.[6] The EE-3 was select-fire. It could fire single shots or bursts, which was an oddity for carbines.[2]
The EE-3 also boasted heavy fire capability, which was on par with many rifles of its time[6] but with a faster rate of fire than larger blaster rifles. However, the weapon—at least in its a standard, non-modified form—had less stopping power and accuracy than those larger rifles.[6] Its moderate range was typical of carbine blaster rifles,[2] but the weapon could be modified for greater accuracy, more stopping power, and to have a slower firing speed.[6] To see an individual wielding an EE-3 was a sign that the individual in question was serious about their job.[7] The weapon was shorter and lighter than the E-11 medium blaster rifle, another BlasTech product that served as the standard armament of the Empire's Stormtrooper Corps.[6] The EE-4 carbine rifle was the successor to the EE-3; the EE-4 removed the shoulder stock but added a vertical handgrip, as well as having a faster rate of fire, making the EE-4 superior at closer ranges than the EE-3, but at the expense of range.[4]
History[]
The EE-3 was popular amongst bounty hunters, such as Sugi.
The EE-3 was one of BlasTech Industries's most popular non-military weapons. While it was primarily designed for law enforcement and private security forces, its standard features and low price quickly made the EE-3 extremely popular with bounty hunters and paramilitary groups across the galaxy.[2] Within the bounty hunting circle, the weapon was also popular due to its size.[6] During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, the EE-3 was used by the bounty hunters Sugi and Kiera Swan.[7] Beyond the EE-3 becoming one of her favorite pieces of gear to use,[8] Sugi's sawed-off[9] EE-3 was enough to signify her commitment to the job of bounty hunting.[7]
The EE-3 was used by troopers of both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.[4] Boba Fett, who was regarded as the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy by the time of that conflict,[10] proved to be very effective with the EE-3; becoming his favorite and preferred blaster, Fett modified the weapon to his liking and, building off his already excellent skills as a sharpshooter, used the technology in his Mandalorian helmet to help ensure he hit his targets. All together, these factors made the EE-3 a deadly weapon in Fett's hands.[6] The EE-3's weight became a familiar feeling in his hands over his career.[11] Fett's EE-3 also had a modified stock.[6]
Thea Starros had an EE-3 in her armory at the Starros family homestead.[12] The mercenary protocol droid[6] Q9-0 used one during the era of the New Republic.[13] After giving up bounty hunting to become the daimyo of his own gotra, Fett obtained a new EE-3 and continued to use the rifle[5] after his old one was destroyed by the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker.[3]
Behind the scenes[]

The EE-3 was first seen being used by Boba Fett
In the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, the EE-3 carbine rifle was misidentified as "ESB carbine rifle" in its entry in the technology section of the book. However, in the characters section, under the bounty hunter Sugi, it is identified under its name that was introduced in the now non-canon Star Wars Legends line as the "EE-3 carbine rifle."[1] Artist E.M. Gist observed that the EE-3 has a habit of differing in appearance between different shots. When he needed to paint Boba Fett's EE-3[14] as part of his cover for Boba Fett — Black, White & Red 3,[15] Gist chose to feature its design with a shining barrel, as he felt it would better "pop"[14] on the red background.[15]
