Echani fiber armor consisted of fibers woven together to form armor plates that were exceptionally strong. The weaving pattern allowed force to be distributed around the body after an impact, which somewhat dissipated the impact of the blow to neighboring fibers.[source?]
By the time of the Jedi Civil War, Echani fiber armor proved to be a highly versatile suit of armor and this along with the ease by which it could be modified made it popular among many professional soldiers and bounty hunters.
In 3956 BBY, a friend of Gilthos Uksaris, the manager of the band Twisted Rancor Trio, delivered a suit of Echani fiber armor to him at an apartment in the Lower City of Taris. Though Uksaris was not around to immediately receive it, the friend had secured the package in a footlocker protected by a Holo-Sec Corp anti-theft explosive and its complementing holographic security system.
Behind the scenes
The Echani fiber armor first appeared in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. If the player fully upgrades the armor, it provides the highest protection available to the player during the events on Taris.
As is the case with many role-playing video games, robbing Uksaris' room does not affect the player's alignment.
