Edusa was an industrial planet located in the Outer Rim Territories' Morshdine sector. During the Great Galactic War, the reconstituted Sith Empire enslaved the Twi'lek girl Leontyne Saresh there, and she eventually incited a revolt of enslaved beings on the planet before departing for Galactic Republic space.
Edusa was located within the borders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, and, during the Galactic Civil War, pirates displaying the Blazing Claw emblem were frequently encountered there. The Yuuzhan Vong eventually conquered the Edusa system during their invasion of the galaxy.
Description[]
Edusa was a terrestrial planet[3] located in the Edusa system, a part of the Morshdine sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] A hyperlane linked it to the Camden and Tangrene systems.[2]
History[]
Space surrounding Edusa was explored between 5000 BBY and 3000 BBY.[2] At some between the beginning and end of the Great Galactic War of 3681 BBY–3653 BBY, the reconstituted Sith Empire enslaved on Edusa a group of individuals, including the young Twi'lek girl Leontyne Saresh. Her childhood was filled with hardship and brutality, but the girl did not abandon hope for freedom, and eventually Saresh rallied her fellow enslaved people and incited a revolt against their Imperial captors. Escaping from Edusa, Saresh traveled to Galactic Republic space and dedicated her life to combating the injustices of the Sith Empire, ultimately going on to become the Republic's Supreme Chancellor.[3]

The future Galactic Republic Supreme Chancellor Leontyne Saresh incited a revolt of enslaved beings on Edusa.
By the time of the Clone Wars, Edusa was situated within the borders of the Republic.[2] During the first campaigns of that conflict, however, the planet fell within the territory controlled by the Republic's enemy, the Confederacy of Independent Systems, with the Tenth Sector Army of the Republic being tasked with engaging the Confederacy's military forces in Edusa's vicinity. The planet had become a part of the Galactic Empire by 17 BBY.[4] However, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, Edusa was one among a corridor of industrial worlds where the Blazing Claw pirate emblem was seen more frequently than either the Imperial crest or the banner of the Empire's enemy in the conflict, the Rebel Alliance.[5]
Between 12 ABY and 17 ABY, Edusa was located within the borders of the Imperial Remnant,[4] and the population of the Edusa system around 25 ABY numbered between one and ten billion. The extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong conquered the system at some point between 25 ABY and 26 ABY as part of their invasion of the galaxy, and it remained in Yuuzhan Vong control at least until 27 ABY.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Edusa was introduced in Star Wars Handbook 1: X-Wing Rogue Squadron, a companion issue to Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic-book series. The issue was authored by Peet Janes[5] and published on July 1, 1998.[6] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Edusa system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square O-5.[2]
