- "If I had to characterise Star Wars, I'd say it's primarily an adventure story with a fantasy heart and a science-fiction wardrobe."
- ―Elaine Cunningham
Elaine Cunningham (born August 12, 1957) is an American fantasy and science fiction author, who contributed primarily to The New Jedi Order, with a novel called The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey as well as short stories called "The Crystal" and "The Apprentice". She also wrote another short story, "Red Sky, Blue Flame." Known for her almost poetic literary style, she is known for her contributions to the Forgotten Realms campaign world, including the realms of Evermeet, Halruaa, Ruathym and Waterdeep. She lives in New England with her husband, their two sons, and two eccentric Siamese cats.
Cunningham wrote the long-running Songs & Swords series of Forgotten Realms stories. The intended finale to this, entitled Reclamation, was due out in November 2008, but was cancelled because Cunningham was unable to meet deadlines.
