- "This E.M.P. device only works on contact. I need to get hands on the target."
- ―Beilert Valance
An electro-pulse was a hand-held electromagnetic pulse device that disabled machines on contact. It was a brown, rectangular device that consisted of a number of buttons with a gold ring on top. Upon landing on Heva during his hunt for the Sith Lord Darth Vader at some point prior to the Battle of Hoth. the cyborg bounty hunter Beilert Valance took an electro-pulse with him as he knew that Vader was a cyborg like himself, and the device could disable Vader's cybernetics.
When he and his team took on the Sith Lord, Valance used the deaths of the slicer Chio Fain and the tracker Honnah as an opportunity to close the distance and activate the device. While Valance managed to place the device on Vader's cape, he failed to activate it in time when the Sith turned around and caught the bounty hunter off-guard.
