Elrood was a planet located between the Halbara and Kidron systems on the Elrood-Derilyn Run. It functioned as capital of the Elrood sector and as its major trade and manufacturing hub. Elrood headquartered Radell Mining Corporation, the largest company in the sector. It had two moons, Sharene and Lodos. The planet was named after Senator Elrood, who secured funding for its colonization.

Geography[]

Elrood had three main continents; its capital, Elrooden, was located on the western half of the largest continent. The climate of Elrood was pleasant, and its resources, flora, and fauna made it an attractive target for colonists despite its location in the isolated Elrood sector.

Elrood's four Imperial-class starports were renowned for their immaculate cleanliness and strict regulations. Armor and all ranged weapons were prohibited on Elrood, and non-sentient creatures could not leave a ship unless leashed.[2]

History[]

The world was colonized by the Galactic Republic in 8000 BBY. Elrood supported the Republic out of loyalty to its origins.

Following its initial colonization, Elrood developed slowly due to its lack of large mineral deposits. Elroodians enjoyed a quiet, agrarian lifestyle as its population slowly grew.[2] Following first contact with some of the Elrood sector's native sentients (the Coynites, Orfites, Meri, and Teltiors), Elrood grew to prominence in the sector but remained essentially unchanged.

In 22 BBY, shortly before the Clone Wars, Elrood seceded from the Republic.[source?]

With the rise of the Empire, Elroodians generally trusted Palpatine's motivations and promised reforms. In time, however, the Empire's tendency to favor megacorporations instead of smaller regional interests like those of Elrood sector led to some misgivings among Elrood's people—but not enough for them to develop sympathy for the Rebel Alliance, which was seen as a dangerous and misguided revolutionary movement.[2]

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Elrood was the site of a commercial colony containing prefabricated room units from the factories of Sullust.

The Ganrite Yards of Elrood were based on the planet.

Durrei was a native of Elrood.

Behind the scenes[]

Star Wars Adventure Journal 6 misspells the planet as Eldrood.

The PC game Star Wars: Rebellion mistakenly places Elrood in the Glythe sector of the Mid Rim.
