Energy swords were used by very elderly Jedi and Sith for ceremonies. Jax Pavan, a private investigator and former Jedi Knight, briefly used one as a replacement for his destroyed lightsaber. Velmorian energy swords were also used for ceremonies and duels on the planet Velmor.
