- "In the last weeks alone, the defense coalition has engaged the Nihil on Carlac, Magaveene, and in the Dreighton Nebula."
- ―Avar Kriss
In 231 BBY,[2] the Galactic Republic engaged the Nihil pirates in the Dreighton Nebula during Operation Counterstrike—the Republic and Jedi Order's response to the devastation inflicted by the Nihil on[1] the Outer Rim planet[3] Valo during the Republic Fair. The battle resulted in a victory for the Republic Defense Coalition. While on the space station Starlight Beacon shortly before the Battle of Galov[1] later in the same year,[2] Avar Kriss—the Jedi marshal of the station—reported the engagement against the Nihil in the Dreighton Nebula during a briefing to update the Jedi and members of the defense coalition on the status of Operation Counterstrike.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The engagement in the Dreighton Nebula was mentioned in flashbacks in The High Republic: Tempest Runner, a 2021 audio drama written by Cavan Scott and published as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[4]
