The Ertrax system was located in Wild Space[1] and contained the planet Ertrax, which was home to the Ertraxi species. At some point, a Galactic Republic starship crash-landed on Ertrax with no survivors. The Ertraxi found the wrecked vessel and eventually repaired it flew it off-world in order to search out and contact other species.[2]

Shortly after that, a group of explorers charting the far reaches of the Minos Cluster found a trail of Cronau radiation left behind by the starship and followed it, leading them to discover Ertrax and make first contact with the aliens. When the group brought news of its discovery back to the wider galactic community, the explorers learned that the information spurred many opportunistic traders, slavers, and would-be conquerors to travel to the Ertrax system in order to exploit the newly-found planet.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Ertrax system was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas.

The Ertrax system was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas. The book was authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, and it placed the system in grid square N-21.[1]

The 2008 sourcebook Scum and Villainy, published by Wizards of the Coast for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, described Ertrax in a roleplaying adventure seed that suggested two possible courses of action for the player-characters regarding their discovery of the planet: The characters can either keep the reward offered for the information on the newfound world, or they can forfeit the fee by returning to the Ertrax system and helping the Ertraxi protect themselves against the threat of exploitation, either by warning and arming the natives or by assisting them with gaining a Republic membership.[2]
