In the time following the Battle of Exegol,[1] the dark side adept Karre and his astromech droid, R-DUO, sought to escape a Gemini-class Star Destroyer with the kyber crystal that powered it. Karre had foreseen that his sister, Am, would die if the crystal was used, but she rejected his advice and attempted to stop him.[2]

Star Wars Anime Visions Will Include What Became of the Jedi, a Rock Opera, and More by Daniel Robson on IGN (backup link archived on September 22, 2021) establishes that the events of "THE TWINS" occur after those of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, which are dated to be a year after the "Starkiller Incident" by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the Starkiller Incident to 34 ABY, it can be deduced the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker take place in 35 ABY. Therefore, the events of "The Twins"—beyond occurring after the uprising against the First Order, the last event depicted in the Rise of Skywalker—must be set during or after 35 ABY.
