After the renegade Sith Lord Darth Maul was captured by his former master Dark Lord of the Sith Sidious and locked within the Spire on the planet Stygeon, the members of Maul's Shadow Collective broke into the prison to liberate their leader. The break out was intended by Sidious, with intent to have Maul lead them to his mother, the Dathomirian witch Talzin. The event would lead directly into a war between the Shadow Collective and Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1]
