Plot summary[]

On the forest moon of Endor, Imperial General Tern Koyatta and his team, consisting of the former scout trooper Khu Fornot, the bounty hunting duo Zuckuss and 4-LOM, the scavenger duo Koll Orvenk and E-X77, and their prisoner-guide Wicket Wystri Warrick, are horrified by the Great Devourer, the gargantuan Gorax who emerges from the cave storing an Imperial weapons cache. Koyatta calls for his team to scatter, but Wicket is frozen in fear. The Dowutin Orvenk charges at the Gorax and delivers a series of massive body slams to give Wicket a chance to escape. As he sprints to find some sort of help, Wicket slams into 4-LOM's leg. The droid expresses his disdain for Wicket, but the Ewok retorts with a scathing derision of the droid's evocation of the deity the Adversary.

4-LOM threatens to kill Wicket, but he is stopped by the arrival of the Ewok loners Meedro and Asha Fahn. The two warriors pounce on the droid and batter his right knee joint. Meanwhile, their condor dragon friend attacks the Gorax. Wicket flees to cover, but the other two Ewoks are thrown off 4-LOM by the arrival of Zuckuss. Meanwhile, the Great Devourer manages to seize the condor dragon's neck and forcefully slams it into the ground. As Zuckuss and 4-LOM recover, they wonder where Fornot and Koyatta went.

The pair is answered by the fire of an AT-ST and a 74-Z speeder bike emerging from the cave. The Great Devourer attacks Koyatta's AT-ST while Fornot chases after Asha and Meedro with his speeder bike. The xenophobic scout trooper grazes Meedro with a laser bolt, and circles back to try and kill the Ewoks. Asha is prepared, however, and leaps to strike Fornot off of his bike with her spear. Wicket recovers the bike and zooms away as Asha continues to fight Fornot.

As Orvenk and Koyatta fight the Great Devourer, the mighty Gorax gains the advantage knocking the Dowutin back and rending the laser cannons off the AT-ST. Koyatta flings open the hatch on the AT-ST and aims his EPS-6 superheavy blaster cannon at the Gorax's heart, killing the Great Devourer. The general leaps out of the walker and uses his blaster pistol to blast Wicket off of the stolen speeder bike. He then asks Orvenk to kill their prisoner. The scavenger refuses to further disrespect the forest and walks away from the job despite the protests of the general. With Koyatta so distracted with the Dowutin, Wicket sneaks away with an idea for potential backup.

Asha and Meedro continue to fight the bounty hunters and Fornot. The scout trooper draws a knife and lurches at Meedro, hoping to finally kill an Ewok. At the sound of a massive rumbling, the fighters are alerted to a new threat. Wicket has arrived with a massive army of Yuzzums and rakazzak beasts. Koyatta's party stop their fighting and speak to Wicket. Koyatta argues that all of the weapons in the cache are Imperial property, and thus his. Therefore, they must allow him to take it lest they are considered thieves.

Wicket calls out this lie, and he claims that Koyatta is a lying about being a general. The man gets defensive, allowing 4-LOM to pick up on bio-signs of deceit. This is enough for Fornot to turn on the "general", making Koyatta even more panicked. Fornot draws a blaster and compels Koyatta to come clean. The man reveals that he was a maintenance tech on Endor. After the destruction of the first Death Star, he manipulated the Imperial bureaucracy to stockpile weapons in case the rebels managed to destroy the Second Death Star as well. During the Battle of Endor, he stole an officer's uniform off a corpse, including his code cylinder and impersonated the role of a general.

Koyatta's confession only angers Fornot further, since the man is only a grunt preying on his own kind. Koyatta orders Zuckuss and 4-LOM to take out Fornot, but the Gand refuses to work with the liar any more, believing that abandoning the pretender will better maintain their reputation. Wicket blasts through the weapons of all three and calls for the end of the fighting. Koyatta then fatally blasts Fornot in the sternum. Meedro pounces on the murderer, a knife at his neck. Wicket talks his friend down.

Wicket tells the rest of the story to his younger brother, Widdle. He tells how Orvenk and E-X77 communed with the forest, how Zuckuss and 4-LOM arrested Koyatta to turn him in to Moff Ubrik Adelhard, and how the Yuzzums repaired their Lambda-class shuttle so the bounty hunters would never return to Endor. Asha, Wicket, and Meedro return to the cache and decide to destroy its contents. Asha and Meedro, decide to be loners together. When Koyatta is delivered to Adelhard, he is forced to clean out the Star Destroyer's waste chambers of dianogas by hand. At Bright Tree Village, the Ewoks host a massive celebration with their many species of neighbors so they can start building the forest of the future together.
