Farana was a Wild Space world that was home to the near-Human Ocsin species. Never governed by the Galactic Republic or the Galactic Empire, by 3705 BBY it was situated at the endpoint of the Morellian Trail hyperlane.

Farana was a foggy terrestrial world located in the Farana system,[1] a part of[2] the Wild Space[1] region also known as Farana.[3] It was situated on the hyperlane known as the Tertiary Etti Route, which linked it to the Hull's Star system as well as the Outer Rim Territories' Ocsin system. Another hyperspace route traveled eastward from Farana.[1]

By 3705 BBY, Farana served as the endpoint of the Morellian Trail hyperlane.

Space surrounding Farana was explored between 5000 BBY and 3000 BBY. By 3705 BBY, the world was situated at the endpoint of the hyperlane known as the Morellian Trail, which connected it to the Outer Rim's Cadomai system. That route was integrated into the galaxy-spanning Hydian Way super-hyperroute at some point following 3694 BBY, although the latter no longer traveled to Farana, instead terminating at the Bonadan system. While Farana was situated at the border of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars of 22 BBY19 BBY,[1] it was never ruled by either that government or its successor, the Galactic Empire.[4]

Farana was the homeworld of the Ocsin, a clan-based near-Human species of merchants and explorers which dominated the Farana region and established extensive ties between it and the rest of the galaxy via trade and migration. Around 25 ABY, the population of the Farana system numbered between one and ten billion.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Farana was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-3.[1]
