This article is about the world. You may be looking for the admiral, Edouard Fenel.

"They raided Fenel, a powerful, isolationist world known for its shipwrights and technologists, culminating with the Fenelar's extinction by the 6700s BBY."
―Vilnau Tept, 412th Proceedings of Galactic Anthropology and History[3]

Fenel was an Outer Rim Territories world located in the Demetras sector. It was the homeworld of the Fenelar species. A powerful world possessing starshipwrights and technologists, it was eventually raided by the Mandalorian Crusaders, resulting in the Fenelar's extinction. Fenel subsequently became a Mandalorian world and was bombarded by the Galactic Republic during the Mandalorian Excision.

Description[]

Fenel was a terrestrial world[3] located in the Fenel system, a part of the Demetras sector[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1]

History[]

"The Mandalorian Excision was brief but overwhelming: Key Mandalorian worlds such as Fenel, Ordo, Concord Dawn, and Mandalore itself were subjected to devastating bombardment, with swathes of those worlds still desolate in Imperial times."
―Vilnau Tept, 412th Proceedings of Galactic Anthropology and History[3]

Mandalorian Crusaders (a member pictured) caused the extinction of Fenel's native Fenelar species.

At some point between approximately 7000 BBY and the 6700s BBY, the Mandalorian Crusader warrior culture commenced raids against Fenel and the Fenelar[3] species, whom, according to the text Ba'jurne Kyr'tsad Mando'ad that was attributed to the later Mandalorian Tor Vizsla, the Crusaders viewed as "unworthy and unclean."[4] The raids ultimately led to the extinction of the Fenelar by the 6700s BBY.[3]

Fenel itself ultimately became an important Mandalorian world alongside Concord Dawn, Ordo, and the Mandalorian homeworld, Mandalore. All of those worlds were subjected to devastating orbital bombardment as part of the Galactic Republic's 738 BBY operation known as the Mandalorian Excision, and expansive territories on them remained barren by the time of the Galactic Empire's reign centuries later. Vilnau Teupt briefly noted Fenel's history in the keynote address "Industry, Honor, Savagery: Shaping the Mandalorian Soul" at Brentaal Academy's 412th Proceedings of Galactic Anthropology and History in 24 ABY.[3]

Inhabitants[]

"Some seven millennia ago, the Shadow Warriors came to Mandalore and cleansed surrounding space of species unworthy and unclean—the Fenelar, Tlönians, and others."
―Tor Vizsla, Ba'jurne Kyr'tsad Mando'ad[4]

Fenel was the homeworld of the sentient Fenelar[3] species.[4] Prior to the extinction of the Fenelar, Fenel was a powerful—though isolationist—world and possessed notable starshipwrights and technologists. Afterward, Fenel became an important Mandalorian world.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Fenel was mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Fenel system, and therefore Fenel itself, in grid square O-7.[2]
