Fil's Squad was the name sometimes used to identify a tight-knit squad of clone troopers under the command of Clone Commander Fil during the Clone Wars. Also sometimes known by the name of Fil's Clones, the squad took part in a skirmish at Grievous's fortress alongside Jedi Kit Fisto and Nahdar Vebb against Grievous.

Description[]

Fil's Squad, as the group was sometimes known, was a squad of clone troopers active as part of the Grand Army of the Republic. Also sometimes identified as Fil's Clones, the squad was led by Clone Commander Fil, who enjoyed a close bond with the soldiers under his command.[3] The squad was composed of five clones other than Fil himself, with the troopers equipped with DC-15A blaster rifles with ascension cables[1] or DC-15A blaster carbines.[3] Fil himself used two DC-17 repeater hand blasters. The squad utilized a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle for transportation and sported rusty red-colored markings on their Phase I clone trooper armor,[1] which made the squad recognizable. The tight-knit squad was battle-ready and worked well with each other to the extent it could seem as though they shared the same thoughts. For the mission to Vassek 3, Fil's squad was assigned to Jedi Generals Kit Fisto and Nahdar Vebb.[3]

History[]

After a skirmish on the Galactic Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer Tranquility by Separatist Alliance forces that managed to rescue Viceroy of the Trade Federation Nute Gunray,[4] Jedi General Kit Fisto and his former Padawan, Jedi General Nahdar Vebb, were dispatched to track down Gunray. Meeting on Vassek 3, Fisto and Vebb, along with Clone Commander Fil and his squad, moved into a fortress where they believed a homing beacon was. Two troopers, Niner and Bel, remained by the Nu-class transport and Fisto's starfighter.[1] They were subsequently killed by a MagnaGuard, who fired a missle at the transport, destroying it and killing the clones.

Fil and his troopers were able to defeat the battle droids guarding the Viceroy, but realized that it was only a hologram. After Dooku offered a "alternative prize" to the jedi, the troopers went deeper into the fortress. They discovered that the fortress belonged to General Grievous.[1]As the squad made their way through the fortress, the three other clones perished, with one falling to a trap in the floor. Soon, Fil was the last surviving member of his unit, only to meet his end during the fight with the droid general's pet Gor.
