The Story of Star Wars was the first in a series of three audio adaptations of the original Star Wars films, released on LP record album, cassette tape and 8-track tape.

This album, released in 1977, told an the abridged story of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope using audio from the film and narration by Roscoe Lee Browne. It was released by both 20th Century Fox Records and Buena Vista Records in the United States, and distributed by other companies in other countries.
